When you exit JR Tokyo Station from Marunouchi, there are bus stops on both sides. On the left are Marunouchi South Bus Stops (1)(2)(3)(7), which are right in front of you as you exit the Marunouchi South Exit. On the right are Marunouchi North Bus Stops (4)(5)(6), which are right in front of the Marunouchi North Exit. The numbers for each bus stop match the numbers in the image below. (Platform #1) Route To-05-2, bound for Tokyo Big Sight
First, let's look at bus stop #1 at the Marunouchi South. The bus stop is across the street from Marunouchi South Exit of the JR Tokyo Station. In the photo below, bus stop #2 is in the foreground and bus stop #1 is in the back.
At platform #1, you can board the bus bound for Tokyo Big Sight. The bus runs about every 8-10 minutes on weekdays and weekends, making it very convenient.
Here are the main bus stops on this route.
Tokyo International Forum: The first bus stop you get on at. In addition to the Tokyo International Forum, the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, famous for its high-quality art exhibits, is right in front of this bus stop.
Sukiyabashi: Get off here to go to the shopping mall "Lumine Yurakucho" and Sukiyabashi Street.
Ginza 4-chome: The bus stop is located in the center of Ginza, and it is a 1-minute walk to Ginza Mitsukoshi and Wako, and a 2-minute walk to Kabukiza.
Tsukiji 3-chome: Tsukiji Honganji, a temple famous for its oriental architecture, and Tsukiji Outer Market, where you can find fresh delicacies, are a 2-minute walk from this bus stop.
Kachidoki Station: Tsukishima area, where you can find many restaurants selling Tokyo's specialty "Monjayaki," is a 4-minute walk from this bus stop.
Harumi Triton Square: Daiichi Life Hall, a concert venue for classical music and other shows, is located within Harumi Triton Square Building and is right in front of this bus stop.
Shin-Toyosu Station: Toyosu Market, a new market that supports Tokyo's food industry, is a 12-minute walk from this bus stop.
Ariake Tennis Forest Park: Ariake Tennis Forest Park, one of Japan's leading tennis facilities with a center court, Ariake Coliseum, as well as many indoor and outdoor tennis courts, is a 1-minute walk from this bus stop.
Tokyo Big Sight: The destination of this route is right in front of the huge event venue, Tokyo Big Sight.
You can take a sea bus from the Ariake Passenger Ship Terminal next to Tokyo Big Sight to Hinode Pier near Hamamatsucho station. It’s a recommended trip as it takes just 25 minutes while you enjoy the scenery of Tokyo Bay!
(Platform #2) Route To-04, bound for Toyomi Fisheries Wharf
Buses to Toyomi Fisheries Wharf also depart approximately every 8 to 10 minutes on weekdays and on weekends.
From Tokyo Station to Kachidoki Station, the bus runs along the same route as the bus that departs from platform #1 (to Tokyo Big Sight), so it's best to take whichever bus departs earlier.
(Platform #3) Route East-98, Bound for Todoroki Yard, Shimizu
At Marunouchi Bus Stop, Tokyu Bus operates only buses departing from bus stop #3. On weekday mornings, buses run every 10-12 minutes, but at other times, they run less frequently, about once every 30 minutes.
If you have time to spare, this is a very convenient route.
Tokyo International Forum: The first bus stop after boarding. In addition to the Tokyo International Forum, the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, famous for its high-quality art exhibits, is right in front of you if you get off here.
Hibiya: The bus stop is located just past Hibiya intersection, right in front of Hibiya Park.
Nishi-Shinbashi 2-chome: The bus stop is right in front of Toranomon Hills.
Tokyo Tower: Tokyo Tower and Zojoji Temple are a 3-minute walk from this bus stop.
Shirokanedai 5-chome: The National Museum of Nature and Science Nature Education Center and Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum are right in front of this bus stop.
Todoroki: This bus stop is one stop before the end of the route, and it is a 10-minute walk from Todoroki Valley.
It’s great that you can get to Toranomon Hills and Tokyo Tower without having to change trains!
(Platform #7) Route To-05-1, bound for Harumi Pier
Marunouchi South Bus Stop #7 is a little far from the other bus stops. Once you leave the station building from the Marunouchi South Exit, turn left and you'll find it right there. Buses leaving from this bus stop #7 are bound for Harumi Wharf. Buses run every 5-6 minutes on weekday mornings, and about once every 10 minutes at other times, making it very convenient.
The bus from Tokyo Station to the Harumi Triton Square bus stop runs along the same route as the bus leaving from Platform #1 (bound for Tokyo Big Sight). It's best to take whichever bus leaves earlier.
Harumi Pier Park, located in front of the final bus stop on this route, is a great spot to get a panoramic view of Tokyo Bay and the Rainbow Bridge.
Introducing the bus routes departing from Marunouchi North bus stops
(Platform #4) Route East-22, bound for Kinshicho
Buses bound for Kinshicho depart from platform #4.
On weekdays, buses depart approximately every 15 to 20 minutes, and buses depart every 20 minutes on weekends. On Sundays, buses run every 30 minutes. This bus route runs above the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line from Nihonbashi to Toyocho, and then heads north from Toyocho towards Kinshicho station.
Here are the main bus stops on this route.
Nihonbashi: There is a bus stop right in front of the shopping mall "COREDO Nihonbashi".
Kabutocho: Get off here and it is a 4-minute walk to the "Tokyo Stock Exchange", the center of the Japanese economy.
Fudosonmae: Get off here and it is a 3-minute walk to "Fukagawa Fudo-do (Naritasan Tokyo Betsuin)", known for its goma ritual, and it is a 5-minute walk to "Tomioka Hachimangu (Fukagawa Hachiman)", known for its flea market for antiques.
(Platform #5) Route To-03, bound for Yotsuya Station
This is a bus route that goes from Tokyo Station to Yotsuya Station via Hibiya and Hanzomon, but unfortunately it only operates four times a day on weekdays. There are no services on weekends.
To get to Yotsuya Station from JR Tokyo Station, please take the JR Chuo Line.
(Platform #6) Route East-43, bound for Arakawa Dote bank
At bus stop #6, you can take a bus bound for Arakawa Dote bank.
Here are the main bus stops on this route.
Surugadai-shita: Get off at this bus stop and head west along Yasukuni-dori street from the Surugadai-shita intersection to reach the second-hand bookstore district of Jimbocho, said to be the largest in Japan.
Ochanomizu Station: This is the closest bus stop to Yushima Seido and Kanda Myojin Shrine.
Todai Akamon-mae: The Akamon Gate of Tokyo University was relocated from the main gate of the former Kaga clan residence in the Edo period. It is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. When you get off at this bus stop, it will be right in front of you.
Unfortunately, the bus to Arakawa Dote bank runs about once every 30 minutes during the day, both on weekdays and weekends.
